We walked a good bit today, some jarder but mostly moderately on maintained trails. The ground looks rugged and it is, but this place is still eroding rapidly and the soft sand bottoms and sides are rather delicate so off trail exploration is limited to areas closer to the 8 or 9 respites along the park route or nearer water or in the water. We took advantage of that as it was a little over 100 today. Kind of nice as the shady parts are quick to move around in and out of places as the sun paints new colors on the sheer rock cliffs and peaks. We probably didn't walk as much as yesterday at Bryce but overall it was easier going. Not many pics of the boys on my phone as they tend to range farther and faster than we three. V mentioned this was his favorite place so far. Animals we saw were mule deer, wild Rio Grande turkeys (Gus talked to one at roosting time) Begging squirrels of 2
varieties, lizards galore, prairie dogs, a large ferral cat , chipmunks, more I know... Oh, & the French.
