We're in SoCal at the Newport Dunes on Back Bay in Newport Beach, California. It's chilly here the last few days and people here love it that way. It seems most nights and mornings are cool and the sun burns off the damp coolness as the morning progresses but it has been overcast of late, giving the campers a welcome respite from the summer heat. Our neighbors are from Phoenix and they are nearly giddy with delight.
We took an evening stroll around the lagoon, there's a boardwalk bridge across the open end. The campground is rather exclusive and much more than double the cost of any other we've visited. There's a pool, gameroom, store, bicycles and surries, sailboats and electric boats to rent, cottages, beach fire pits, gorgeous scenery on a placid glassy lagoon, and strangely, no foreigners. Must be off the beaten path. Really though, I like the Europeans we've met very much. They are amazed by this land, as are we.
