Zion Tunnel

Our stay in Zion started at noon. We drove in from the east, showed our pass, paid our $15 for tunnel access, over the height limit, and drove on. We came to Checkerboard Mesa, massive rock worn with rectangle lines in an astounding fashion. On more we went through our first tunnel, short and sweet. Soon we came down to a mile-long tunnel through a mountain. it was 13'6" in the center, 11'4 where the right wheels would ride, we're 11'6". We paid for the privilege of riding through while holding the other side back, we were in front and it was very cool, there were 6 galleries cut out of the sides to allow light and observation to rare views. We were warned about road construction on the other side and was ot ever! The entire rout is closed 12hrs. nightly for work. This road down to the canyon bottom had about a half dozen extended switchbacks and orange pylons in the center with
little on the sides to hold us up but imagination, a stiff upper lip & Karen's prayers. I hit two cones.
